Curve announces partnership with Discover in EU, allowing customers to add Discover Global Network Cards to Curve Wallet from today

  • Curve partners with Discover, one of the most recognised brands in US financial services and one of the four major credit card giants

  • EU-based customers can now add Discover Global Network cards on Curve

  • Partnership founded in innovation and mutual desire for expansion in US and Europe

8 July 2021, LondonCurve, the fast-growing financial super app, announces an exciting new partnership with Discover (NYSE:DFS), a digital banking and payment services company, and one of the most recognised brands in US financial services. Discover Global Network comprises Discover Cards, Diners Club International Cards and cards from over 24 Network Alliance Partners around the globe.

Initially focusing on markets across Germany, Luxembourg, Austria and Belgium, Curve customers will be able to add their Discover Global Network cards, including the Diners Club International Card, to the app, allowing access to all the regular card privileges and rewards, as well as Curve loyalty and cashback, Apple Pay and Google Pay benefits on top.

Curve represents the next generation of money where customers enjoy the convenience of keeping all their cards in one smart digital wallet to manage spending and gain insights on their finances in the app. Curve Rewards allows customers in the UK to enjoy up to 20% cashback with selected online or high street brands - along with other product features such as ‘Anti-embarrassment Mode’ and ‘Go Back in Time’, which avoid awkward card declines by adding a stored back-up card or allowing payments to be switched to another card up to 30 days later.

UK customers are now flocking to the shops and there’s evidence of a post-lockdown spending boom across the eurozone in varying degrees. In May 2021, the value of total online retail sales was nearly 59% higher than pre-pandemic levels of February 2020, with sales volumes up by 9.1% for that period.

Curve’s founder and CEO, Shachar Bialick said: “We are excited to partner with Discover so their members can now use the Curve app. As a Big Four credit card network and issuer, the opportunities to capitalise on our mutual goals are endless. Emerging technologies and evolving customer expectations continue to drive the market and healthy competition and innovation can only be a force for good. Stalwart brands like Discover and Diners Club align with Curve’s ‘customer obsessed’ purpose and mission perfectly.”

Regional Head of Acquirer Partnerships and Merchant Sales, Europe at Discover, Bart Willems, said:  “Today’s consumers want solutions that are tailored to how, why and where they shop. This new partnership with Curve will help our European customers do just that. It will allow them to stay on with their incumbent bank or card issuer while enjoying the technological add-ons an exciting platform like Curve can offer.”

Discover Global Network has more than 50 million merchant acceptance locations and 2 million ATM and cash access locations around the world. The Discover Global Network includes Discover Network, Diners Club International, PULSE and more than 20 alliance partner networks across the globe.
