Frequently asked questions

What is Curve Flex?

Curve Flex is a tool built into Curve Pay that lets you move balances smoothly between your cards whenever you need to manage cashflow, giving you total flexibility over how and when you pay.

If you’re eligible, you can take that flexibility further by turning those balances into instalment plans that help you spread costs over up to 24 months.

How do balance transfers work?

When you use Curve Flex to move balances between cards, we refund the specific past purchases you select - up to the amount you choose to move - and then create a new charge for the same total on the target card you’ve selected.

You’ll see:

  • Refunds for the selected purchases on the original card.
  • A single new charge for the total amount on the destination card.

How much does it cost to move balances?

Curve Flex is free when you move purchases to a a debit card.

If you move your purchases to an instalment plan there is no additional cost beyond the interest on the instalment plan.

If you choose to move purchases to a credit card, a 1.5% fee applies to the total amount transferred. This fee covers processing costs and will be clearly shown before you confirm the transfer - so there are no surprises.

How fast are transfers?

Transfers are processed instantly. The source card is refunded, and the destination card is charged immediately, however banks may take 3 - 5 business days to present the refunds in your account.

Is it available internationally?

Yes. Curve Flex balance transfers are  available across the UK and EEA. It works with any eligible card in your Curve Pay wallet. Instalments plans are only available to eligible Customers in the UK.

What MCC code is used when transferring purchases to another card?

When you move purchases to another card using Curve Flex, the original purchases are refunded, and a new purchase is created on your selected card.

  • This new purchase uses MCC (Merchant Category Code) 8999.
  • This classification helps process the purchase correctly, but it may affect how your card issuer applies rewards, cashback, or promotional rates - so be sure to check how your card treats purchases under MCC 8999.
What happens if some of my selected purchases can’t be refunded?

Sometimes, one or more of the purchases you selected for your transfer may not be refundable - for example, if the original purchase has already been reversed or the card issuer declines the refund.

If that happens, we’ll automatically adjust the total transfer amount so that it only includes the value of the purchases we were able to refund.

How much can I transfer?

Your transfer amount depends on the value of your eligible purchases. You can move eligible purchases made in the last 4 months via Curve Pay on the specific card you're transferring from.
