Curve appoints Renata Sumskaite as CEO and Head of Lithuania to drive innovation and growth in European Union

6th August 2021, London: Fast-growing financial super app Curve announces the appointment of Renata Sumskaite as CEO and Head of Curve Lithuania, in a move that cements its growth strategy from an EU-licensed base. The Lithuanian office represents a gateway to frictionless trade for Curve and its customers across the European Union. Renata will be focusing on innovation and product development Curve.

Renata came to Curve following a role as Head of Fintech hub ‘Rise Vilnius’ by Barclays and was also Head of the Barclaycard Change Delivery team in Lithuania. Renata brings strong relationships and deep local knowledge of the fintech landscape in Lithuania.

Curve was founded in 2015 with a mission to simplify the way people spend, send, see and save money. Its mobile platform allows customers to manage their spending on all linked cards, and access a growing number of features including contactless and mobile payments. These include Go Back in Time, cashback, Anti-Embarrassment mode, competitive FX rates and free ATM withdrawals. With Curve, customers can modernise their banking without changing their banks, keeping their hard earned money with the banks they know and trust.

Lithuania’s regulatory environment is robust, with a government stimulus programme that welcomes and supports the establishment of global fintechs. Existing channels such as Invest Lithuania and the Fintech Newcomer Programme are active in their support of new entrants, as is the Bank of Lithuania, and the three work together to support growth and collaboration in the sector. A low corporation tax and a competitive cost base support this favourable combination to make Lithuania a top contender for the fintech capital of Europe.

CEO and Head of Curve Lithuania, Renata Sumskaite said: “I’m looking forward to further building Curve’s profile and working with the product teams to drive growth. Working in this environment is really inspirational, supporting and driving Curve’s deeper penetration and growing its product footprint in Europe. Curve’s European customers will benefit from our ability to turbo-charge the banking experience, bringing 21st century money management to many millions, which has been crucial during these changing times.”

Curve Founder and CEO, Shachar Bialick, said: “On behalf of everyone at Curve, I would like to welcome Renata on board. I’m certain she will maximise the opportunities Lithuania as a gateway has to offer, boosting Curve’s products in line with market trends and beyond. Lithuania is home to innovation-friendly regulation and a vibrant fintech community, including a sizable pool of engineering talent. These were a major draw for Curve, and will help maximise our growth around Europe.”
